Development

Architecture, development and technical implementation of the site by Mario Pedol, in collaboration with Anthropic’s Claude language model for code authoring and technical review.

The source code follows the in-house conventions documented in CLAUDE.md and project skills. The site is a static application generated by Astro at deploy time: content is pre-rendered during the build and served as static HTML, with no runtime database and no on-request server-side execution.

Typography

  • Cormorant Garamond by Christian Thalmann, distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 - used for titles and editorial body text.
  • Inter by Rasmus Andersson, distributed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 - used for UI, navigation and metadata.

Font files are hosted directly on the site’s domain (self-hosted), with no reliance on third-party CDNs.

Technical stack

  • Astro 5 - static site generation framework
  • Sanity - editorial content management (projects, stories, exhibitions)
  • React - used exclusively for interactive islands (gallery lightbox, contact form)
  • Cloudflare Pages - hosting and global CDN delivery
  • Cloudflare Workers (Functions) - serverless endpoint for the contact form
  • Cloudflare Turnstile - form anti-abuse verification
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics - aggregate, cookieless audience statistics
  • Resend - transactional email delivery

The full source code is organised as a pnpm monorepo and published on GitHub.
